Distortion/Twirl
 
 

Fluid effects can be achieved with the Twirl function. By iterating the function, you can create textures like ceramics and sand dunes. It works by rotating the texture's pixels around each other. The rotation angles are defined by the heightmap.

Either the Source Texture or the Mask can be used as heightmap. The function works best with Pre-Smoothing set to high values to get smooth effects.

The rotation angles can be regulated with the Amplify value.

Use the Transformation panel to modify the rotation angles. For example the Fractal transformation type results in a scattering effect, the Expotential type is used to create the ceramics effect.
