Copy it on top of an installed v2.81. I rewrote some of the threading code of the Advanced Shader, Mixer and Gentex. Please test for stability on your systems. Gentex also got some rendering changes.

There are two new functions: Generator/Spots, for cracked earth and Filter/Derive, which can be used to create mixmaps for landscapes. It converts the height differences
between neighboring pixels to absolute values.

The function Noise/Tears was rewritted. It now draws antialiased tears and can automatically emboss the texture if you set the bump value <> 0.

If you enter the following line in the console:

set store open textures in buffer = 1

the open textures are written to a buffer when the application shuts down and reloaded on the next startup, experimental.

Try it. Come on, i want some feedback

Ilya, to drag items from Firefox, simply reduce the size of your Firefox window and place it over the top of TM. Then drag and drop just like you would in Windows Explorer, etc. and the image appears as an editable image in TM.

Tobias, I just wanted to comment that the 2.85a4 version of tears is AWESOME. I am finally getting the hang of fine-tuning adjustments to create way better effects than I ever could with the "old" tears. This is awesome. I haven't encountered any glitches. It's especially terrific for skins and metals, and I'm sure a whole slew of things I have yet to discover. Thanks for listening to those of us who "missed" the old tears.

Dec 2004 at 10:28 I try pressing the ESC button but it will not stop a rendering as it does in the 2.81 version. Also there does not seem to be any default preset saved in the generator/spots function. At least pressing the reset button under fuction preset does nothing.

Please, Please, Please don't change the Tears function. I have tried it out with 2.85 Alpha and I don't like that changes very much. In V. 2.85A, the Tears are too vein like. They are too thick and coherent. I have tried adjust the various parameters but I could not get the old Tears look. In the previous version, the Tears are are very thin and have a crack like quality about them that I do enjoy. Here are two asphault textures created exclusively in Texture Maker 2.81 using primarily the pixel noise and Tears:
