I was working on a new function selection that will replace the TreeView in the next 2.4 version. Opinions needed Wink

Looks good Smiley But it would be nice if you could switch to the tree version and keep it still  Undecided

Hi,

this looks great Cheesy .
But... what about the working space?
Wouldn't this consume too much space in the function list? I don't like to scroll all times to find one of that great functions. Just imagine the Generator tree. That will be a really long list then.

Yes, it consumes more screenspace but it makes it easier for new users to find a function with the icons at the left side. I am currently thinking about keeping the old treeview as option or provide a button for switching to small icons.

That will make everybody happy.  Cheesy

I have also another suggestion:

Why don't you split the function tree ?
One list for group selection (i.e. Generator, Translate...)
and one for the function itself.

Providing an option to use one or the other would be ideal.   You may use some user loyalty if you completely eliminate one or the other menu.  Personally, I don't use the iconic bar to the far left; it would be nice to be able to shut it (or the tree view for those that don't use it) off.

There is an option now to switch to small icons which don't use much more space than the treeview. The advantage is that you won't see the horizontal scrollbar again that pops up if an item name is too long. Leaving the old Treeview would mean another resource-eating control, some more trouble for Symetrix's WinME rig Wink

98 is still one of the most popular OS's, and just to ignore it because it is a little bit older seems wrong as its so popular

I go for the opposite - to "downgrade" a program's functions just so it can run on outdated OSes is not smart, and such programs gets old very fast.  I'm glad Infinity Textures make the most of everything, and this will keep it running looong into the future...

Keep in mind that Win98 have kinda the same kernel as Win95.  Win 95 is over 7 years old, and this make Win98's kernel also 7 years old.  Isn't it time to upgrade?

It's just targeted for the more professional people. BTW: Photoshop uses more resources than I-Tex. OK, I-Tex consumes more of the precious window-handles. I will keep reducing the components that are drawn by windows and doing all on my own, like the new main button bar and the favorites, which are just images that react to the user. Before they were an actual arrays of buttons. The configuration panels are the biggest resource hog. I am planning to rewrite the entire stuff and make them dynamically rendered images. This will be memory saving, resource saving and probably faster than Microsoft's code.
